Painted Federal Period Maine Table

$2,250.00 USD

This is a wonderful painted table in the characteristic style of Maine painted furniture ca. 1820 to 1840.

The table is pine with a single board top.  The scalloped top has a backsplash with scrolled ears and it sits on delicately tapered legs.  It measures 30 1/2" wide by 16 3/4" deep and 30" tall.

The table is grain painted to simulate mahogany and has faux painted bands in green and line inlay in gold.  This treatment is on the perimeter of the backsplash, table top, skirt and front projection of the front and back legs.  The backsplash and front skirt are decorated with floral stencils in gold.  The effect is dramatic.

The table is in remarkable condition for its age.  There is an old repair to the top's right front edge and there is an age split in the top's left side.  It looks as though the piece had been professionally refinished at some time and a small distressed area on the top has been professionally restored.  It is ready for that special place in any home.

We think this table is a great example of the painted pine furniture of early 19th Century Maine.  The table is at home with elegant high style furniture as well as the simple country look.  Its diminutive size lets it go anywhere- the dining room, bedroom, living room, family room or the front hall.
