Paint Decorated Windmill Whirligig

This item has been sold.

This is a painted whirligig in the classic form of a windmill.  The hexagon base tapers to a copper and wood upper section which holds the arrow, shaft and windmill sails (propellor).  The unique feature of this design is the top section rotates with the wind while the bottom section remains fixed.  The whirligig is 15" tall (20" to the top of the extended "sail"), 20 1/2" from tip to tail of the arrow, 8" wide at the base.  The sail arms are 17" across.

It is painted in gray with black, red and white details.

The condition is excellent with no losses and no repairs.  The surface is original with signs of age appropriate weathering.

This looks to be a rare form of manufactured whirligig from the first half of the 20th Century.

An estimated $50 is included in the price to cover packing, shipping and insurance.
