Native American Hand Hewn Ash Burl Bowl With Open Handle

This item has been sold.

This hand hewn Native American burl bowl has a very large open "D" handle and slender, tapering sides to an equally thin, flat bottom. This unique design may have been used as a large dipper or perhaps a grain measure.

The ash burl has wonderful, consistent figure, a deep nutty brown color and an untouched surface.

The bowl is 6" tall and 6 1/2" in diameter at the rim.  With the handle it is 10 3/4" long.

There is the start of a crack in the rim adjacent to the top edge of the handle.

This bowl has a great set of attributes- unique design, great execution, superior burl figure and a desirable untouched surface.

An estimated $25 is included in the price to cover packing, shipping and insurance.
