Early 18th Century Carved Sheep Maple Sugar Mold

$1,500.00 USD

A wonderfully carved sheep mold with both halves deeply carved in pine.  The sitting sheep has intricately carved curlicues to represent the wool fleece and rests on a vine decorated base.  Each mold half is 8" wide, 6" tall and 1 3/4" thick.  The mold produces a sheep that stands (sits) 5 1/2" tall, is 6 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide at the base.

One of the mold halves is signed GH NOV 1706 with the N, 7 and 6 carved backwards.

The molds are in excellent condition with no losses and no repairs.  An early set of 3 aligning pegs is included.

This mold set represents the very best in early New England folk carving.

The price includes domestic packing, shipping and insurance.
