Carved and Painted Penny Bank

$2,525.00 USD

We love the form of this bank- a brick cupola with a highly pitched roof topped by a carved rooster.  The bank measures 13 3/4" tall by 5 1/4" square.

The cupola is well carved to create the bricks and mortar pattern which are appropriately painted.  The well carved rooster sits atop the pitched roof and both are painted a deep brown.  The rooster straddles the coin slot, prepared to crow at every deposit.  The base is pine and we suspect pine was used for the whole bank.

The base has an opening for retrieval of the change.  It is likely the bank originally sat on another base that plugged the access to its contents.

The overall condition is excellent with no losses and no repairs.  The surface is original and in remarkable shape with just a few rub marks consistent with age.

We found this bank in Massachusetts with a loose attribution to 19th Century Pennsylvania which we believe to be correct.

An estimated $25 is included in the price to cover packing, shipping and insurance.
