Carved and Painted Firehouse Dog "Baxter"

This item has been sold.

This is a wonderful folk-carved and painted firehouse dog named "BAXTER."  He measures 11" tall by 7 " wide (base) and 8" deep.

The carving is especially nice with an especially delightful curved tail.  He is painted in the traditional firehouse form of a black and white Dalmatian.  Note those blue eyes.  His name is carved on the front of the green base.  He hails from the Mid-West and we assume he was a favorite around the firehouse.  Likely from the first half of the 20th Century.

Condition is excellent.  There is a good, early repair to the tail and a slight paint rub to the nose.  The surface is original and in wonderful shape.

An estimate $25 is included in the price to cover packing, shipping and insurance.
