A. L. Jewell Running Horse Weathervane

$15,000.00 USD

A. L. Jewell made this running horse weathervane from 1853 to 1867 and it was the largest size (41" long and 23 1/2" tall on its museum stand) of this design.  When Cushing and White assumed the business in 1867 they stopped making this size in favor of one of their own designs.

The form is a classic flattened full body, in copper, with a cast zinc head, applied copper ears and a sheet copper tail.  The weathervane is displayed on a contemporary museum stand.

Condition is excellent with the original weathered verdigris surface, no losses and a single repaired bullet hole in the horse's flank.

This combination of size, condition, age and attribution is unbeatable.  See "The Art of the Weathervane" by Smith, pp. 24 & 25.

Due to the size, weight and complexity of crating we will quote shipping costs at the time of your interest.
