1920's Sheet Metal Airplane Weathervane

$1,850.00 USD

Here is a great sheet metal airplane weathervane.  The form is an early 1920's plane with fixed landing gear and complete with it's pilot.  It has been said that flying in the early days was hours of pure joy punctuated by moments of sheer terror.  This must have been one of those.

The plane is hand crafted from sheet iron riveted together and measures 19 1/2" from propeller to tail, 10" tall (11 1/2" tall in the stand) and with a wingspan of 18".  The detail on the landing gear and flaps suggests it was designed by a pilot, perhaps one trying to capture his moment of sheer terror.

The surface is a wonderful crusty, original red paint.  The condition is excellent with no repairs.  The stand is likely more contemporary than the weathervane.

We suspect this weathervane will end up in a single engine pilot's collection.

An estimated $50 is included in the price to cover packing, shipping and insurance.
